Welcome to Turning Point Youth Services (TPYS). We are here to help youth through difficult times. We are an accredited, non-profit multi-service agency serving youth ages 12 to 24 and their families. There are 3 main ways in which we help: through counselling, by providing residential care and treatment (including emergency shelter), and support if you are in trouble with the law. We invite you to read more about our programs.
We take great pride in the way we lend support. The people who work at TPYS are warm and caring professionals who partner with you. They will take you through your options, helping you to develop a plan tailored to your needs and strengths. Our approach is collaborative, flexible, and responsive: we listen, we care, and we work with you to make things better. We strive to be accessible, and when possible, we offer our services in your community or home, in your language of choice and at a time that is convenient for you.
Don’t think you are alone. There are many challenges facing youth today:
- Stress, anxiety, depression, feelings in general
- Suicidal thoughts or actions
- Difficulties with emotions like anger
- Self-harm
- Bullying
- Self-esteem
- Relationships (for example, relationships with family members, significant others, friends, teachers, or work colleagues)
- Issues at home or in school
- Past or current abuse (physical, mental or sexual), even if the police are already involved
- Death of a loved one
- Drug or alcohol use
- Sexual orientation or gender identity
- Making positive choices
- Trouble with the law
Everyone is unique. It might be that you don’t see your problem on this list. We can still help.
It may seem daunting. The worries of parents and caregivers are often different than the worries of youth. We have information for both, if you visit For caregivers and For Youth.
Turning Point Youth Services (TPYS) also works closely with many other support services throughout the city. It could be that you aren’t sure where to turn. Start by phoning Help Ahead, the centralized phone line to access child, youth and family mental health and well-being resources in Toronto. Help Ahead can be reached at 1-866-585-6486. They will help you figure it out.
